The development of Derrinlough Wind Farm involves an investment by Bord na Móna of over €150m in low carbon electricity generation infrastructure in Co. Offaly. The project will make a significant contribution to the achievement of Ireland’s 80% renewable electricity target by 2030.
In February 2020, Bord na Móna submitted planning for the proposed Derrinlough Wind Farm to An Bord Pleanála, and consent (subject to conditions) was granted in late 2021.
Project Outline
We intend to develop the wind farm on Clongawny and Drinagh bogs located in West Offaly.
Location
Bord na Móna has conducted a detailed site selection exercise to identify the optimal site for the development of a large-scale wind energy project.
Project Updates
We are committed to keeping the local community informed about the project with regular updates, information about public events and newsletters.
